Experts Can Apply To Be Lecturers
The Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia is encouraging Malaysian and foreign Industry professionals who would be able to add value to a course or programme in the public universities to apply as lecturers, even if they do not have postgraduate qualifications. They can apply straight to the universities.
Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, the Deputy Higher Education Minister, commented that these professionals? expertise were required by universities as their years of working experience as well as being well known in their fields would be of value to the universities as well as enhance the name of these institutions. He added that such expertise applies for certain selected courses only. One example quoted is architecture.
In his comment to a local English daily, he added that this practice is common in developed countries that encouraged outstanding individuals in certain fields to teach, even if these people only possess first degrees.
