Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities (MAPCU)

Introduction

The Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities (MAPCU) was established on March 18, 1997. It stands as Malaysia’s most prestigious grouping of private colleges and universities with membership from major and well-established private colleges and universities. All members offer post secondary and/or tertiary level courses independently and/or in collaboration with established local and foreign institutions of higher learning.

MAPCU’s Credentials

Recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education, The National Accreditation Board, the Multimedia Development Corporation, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, the Ministry of Human Resources, the Ministry of International Trade & Industry and the National Economic Action Council and Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI).

Objectives

Operating in smart partnership with the Government and its agencies, MAPCU serves to harness the full potential of Malaysia’s private higher education industry. This is backed by the association’s objectives which include:

  • Promoting the growth and development of the private higher education industry in alaysia while contributing towards the social and economic development of the country.
  • Seeking solutions on problems and issues faced by members through discussions and meetings with relevant Ministries and Government Departments and Agencies.
  • Promoting measures to continuously improve quality and professionalism in the private higher education industry.
  • Seeking representation on relevant Committees, Councils and Boards set up by the Government and other relevant non-government agencies.
  • Playing a major role in helping the Government to establish Malaysia as a regional centre of education excellence.
