Ministry Found 237 Skills Training Centres Unfit

The accreditation given to 237 private colleges and institutes to conduct skills training courses under the National Vocational Training Council (MLVK) has today been withdrawn by the Ministry of Human Resources after audits carried out by the ministry has found them to be unfit.

838 centres nationwide from a total of 1,512 training centres have to date, undergone the auditing process. Meanwhile, another 174 centres were handed show-cause letters for not being in full compliance with the requirements and criteria to conduct and run skills training courses.

Minister of Human Resources Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn said the decision to withdraw the accreditation on the 237 centres came after they were found to be without qualified lecturers and lack in the necessary facilities and equipment. In addition, some have even ceased enrolling students, which has resulted in the ministry carrying out investigation on the number of students previously enrolled in the training institutions.
