The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), established in December 1992 as a company limited by guarantee, commenced operations in March 1993. NIOSH aims to be the center of excellence for Occupational Safety And Health (OSH) as well as to be the preferred partner to enhance OSH.
To upgrade the level of OSH in Malaysia, NIOSH has developed curriculum and training programmes for employers, employees and others in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 and its regulations.
Course Outline
NIOSH offers various courses in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), which include Safety and Health Officer Courses, Safety and Health Induction for Construction Workers, Occupational First Aid, Contractors Safety Passport System, Chemical Health Risk Assessment, Occupational Health Doctor, Occupational Health Nurse Industrial Hygiene Technician, Certified Medical Impairment Assessors and others. The training programmes are categorised into scheduled, certificated, in-house and trainers courses.In line with NIOSH mission to be industries? OSH preferred partner, all of its activities are directed towards fulfilling this by providing a better and effective consultation service. The consultation is tailored according to clients? needs and demands. NIOSH provides four different consultation services, namely, OSH Solution, Legal Compliance, Laboratory Service and Customised Training.
Facilities
NIOSH OSH Exhibition Centre introduces visitors to the various aspects and issues related to OSH faced daily at the workplace while exposing them to issues that are applicable and directly related to their job tasks and obtain an insight into the regulations involved; their rights and responsibilities as an employer/employee.Other facilities include OSH Library, OSH Shop, Hostel, Cafeteria, Gymnasium and many more to its course participants. Free internet service is also available in the Library which has one of the most comprehensive OSH collections in Malaysia (over 5000 titles) and functions as a one stop OSH information Centre.
