Informatics College

The Japan-Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTi) was first established in 1998 as a technical collaboration and joint-cooperation between the governments of Malaysia and Japan. The two countries decided then to set up the institute with the primary objective to produce highly-skilled industrial technologists who can adapt and face the challenge of the technology’s rapid growth as well as the future globalisation in the fields of advanced technology in manufacturing, electronics, computer and mechatronics.

This objective is in line with its assigned responsibility to provide post-secondary training and tertiary technology education to supplement the shortage of skilled workforce, as well as to enable the existing skilled ones to further upgrade their vocational training to the highest standards so as to meet skilled manpower requirements in high-technology industries by year 2020.

Besides serving as a training provider, JMTi also assists in the development of local industries and in particular the SMIs, through the provision of supervisory and continuous skills training for their employees as well as individual technical consultancy services for their entrepreneurs and managers.

Why Choose Us
The Japanese Government has given the commitment of preparing long term experts from various expertises.

JMTi conducts full time training programmes based on the training and vocational system, using the latest and current technology from Japan. In addition, students are exposed to the Japanese language as well.

The learning system is implemented in the form of theoretical and practical. Students get to learn not only the theory part but also the practical part through practical training applying the theory which they have learnt. In this way, students can analyse their theoretical outcome in their learning during the practical training. This On-Job-Training is in their final semester for a duration of 10 weeks which will be followed by students being sent to factories according to their respective fields to practise what they have learnt for the 5 semesters. Located in the Bukit Minyak Industrial Park in Penang, thus industrial training for JMTi’s students would not pose any problem.
