The Universiti Kuala Lumpur – British Malaysian Institute (UniKL-BMI) is the result of a partnership between the Malaysian and British government. On the Malaysian side, MARA provides the infrastructure and the staff; the British provides support and the expertise from companies such as BAE SYSTEMS, British Airways, Standard Chartered Bank (M) Bhd, Rolls Royce and from educational institutions such as Wigan & Leigh College and the University of Hertfordshire.
The combination of the Malaysian desire to learn and the British expertise to share their vast knowledge has created this world class center for engineering and technical education.

One of the most outstanding aspects of BMI lies in its teaching strength. We have programmes that are established as a result of partnerships with relevant industries and professionals. Besides this, the training of tutors in the UK is partially sponsored by the British Government, apart from providing support in terms of training facilities, equipment set-up, design and development of curriculum as well as the monitoring of standards.
Course Outline
UniKL-BMI offers engineering technology diploma and degree programmes. The courses have been designed to make graduates immediately marketable upon graduation. The programmes at UniKL-BMI are designed to enable the students to address specific career goals or to help them attain a variety of management and/or technical specialised knowledge in or outside of their chosen professions.
At present, UniKL-BMI offers full time programmes for Diploma of Engineering Technology in:

Our Degree of Engineering Technology is being offered on full time basis in:

UniKL-BMI, which is certified as Class A Training Provider by HRDC and an approved centre by Suruhanjaya Tenaga also offers engineering courses: based Chargeman A1 & A4 ( 5 to 6 months full time and part-time programmes ).

Facilities
UniKL-BMI is equipped with a wide range of training and learning facilities in the form of industry-relevant and state-of-the-art equipment. These facilities include modern computers and engineering laboratories for students. The workshops are provided for the various trades and the ratio of machine to student is 2:1.UniKL-BMI also has a network of information centers comprising of libraries, communication facilities and resources. Other information center facilities include E-learning centre, internet access, Apple Computer lab, videos, audio etc.
The classes are held in small groups of not more than 25 students. The lecture halls are air-conditioned and able to accommodate about 150 students at any one time. There are also a large multipurpose hall as well as on-campus tennis, basketball, sepak takraw and badminton courts.
UniKL-BMI also owns a 2-block hostel that can accommodate up to 1300 students as well as on-campus living apartments for the students.
