New English Language to Train Teachers

Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein says that a new institute to train English language teachers has been proposed.

Aimed at increasing the number of English teachers and improving their skills, he says the goal is to produce English teachers who are on par with their international counterparts.

This proposal, which is a part of the strategies under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, has already been forwarded to the Economic Planning Unit. Not much is being revealed at the moment regarding the institute?s location or intake date, but Hishamuddin says it will establish links with reputable universities overseas such as Oxford and Cambridge as, ?We want the institute to be of global standard in line with Malaysia?s aim to be a fully developed nation by 2020.?
