More NS Trainers This Year
The National Service (NS) programme sees an improved turn-up for volunteer trainers as compared to last year. There are a total of 4,297 trainers for all four modules in the 66 camps with a drop in the trainer-trainee ratio from 1:40 to 1:25, according to NS Training Department research and development senior director Mohd Yusoff Ahmad. There was a drop from 1:35 to 1:20 ration for the community service module.
The senior director was commenting after the closing ceremony of the Training of Trainers course held for the NS community service module at the Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman (KTAR) campus in Setapak on 19 December 2004.
MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting commented that a total of 1,000 KTAR students signed up for the trainers? position with a total of 520 being recruited. Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting also advised the trainers to teach tolerance, forgiving nature, independence and positive attitude to the trainees, to apply in all situations faced by them.
