Secretaries Urged to Hone their Skills
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, has urged secretaries to brush up their skills and to continuously pursue new knowledge in order to meet the increasing demands of job and workplace.
She said that the secretaries or administrative professionals as they are now known as, could move up the corporate ladder if they were given the right opportunity and possessed the right work attitude. In view of the greater mobility to move up the corporate line and on to managerial positions, Datin Seri Rosmah said that secretaries should hence have the courage and be willing to take the helm in today?s corporate culture, and to never be afraid to acquire knowledge as it underlines the value of the individual.
She continued that a secretary?s duty is no longer confined to just merely making coffee and taking dictation from others that were previously the norm practiced. Being the true unsung heroines in most companies, the role of a secretary, concluded Datin Seri Rosmah, is undoubtedly the most integral one as their task can be comparable to the significant role played by a bridge which provides the crucial link between the boss, the workforce, and the outside world.
